A placeholder entry for upcoming PS4 game Yakuza Remastered Collection was leaked on the US PlayStation store this morning, though the link to the game’s store page is not yet active as of this posting. According to Resetera user FFWarrior005 , who first reported the listing in a post on the gaming forum, the game is likely a collection of the remasters of Yakuza 3, Yakuza 4, and Yakuza 5, which were released individually in Japan last year and earlier this year.
All three games originally appeared on PlayStation 3 in 2009, 2011, and 2012, respectively, with Yakuza 3 only available on now-difficult-to-find physical discs in the West. The remasters, whose westward fate had been up in the air until recently, include upgrades to 1080p resolution and a 60 fps refresh rate. That all three games they may now be likely arriving together in a single volume rather than spaced out several months apart is a welcome change from the Japanese release. Fans who have been waiting to complete their Yakuza collection on PS4 won’t have to wait much longer.
[Update]
This morning Sega officially revealed Yakuza Remastered Collection via a trailer posted on the company’s European Youtube account. The collection will include, as reported earlier, Yakuza 3, Yakuza 4, and Yakuza 5, remastered in 1080p and 60 fps, exclusively for PlayStation 4. Yakuza 3 will also include additional content absent from the original PS3 release, such as Mahjong, Shogi, and the Cabaret minigames. However, much like the Japanese release last year and earlier this year, the release dates of each title will be staggered. Yakuza 3 is available today, Yakuza 4 will unlock October 29, and Yakuza 5 will be available February 11, 2020.
Furthermore, a 2-disc steelbook edition will be released to retailers on February 2, 2020. The physical edition will include Yakuza 3 and Yakuza 4 on one disc, while Yakuza 5 gets the second disc to itself. And in a bid for the hearts of collectors, Sega is also including a localized version of the game case for the original Yakuza 5 PS3 game, which never before received a western physical release. Now, not only can you complete your entire Yakuza collection, you can make it look great on a bookshelf too.
