The first episode of Rather Be Playing, our new gaming podcast, is up and ready for downloading, streaming, and telepathic beaming! Let us know what you think, but be gentle! Stevo is very, very sensitive. Feel free to leave a comment or shoot us an email here. Also check out our iTunes page for more episodes, and our YouTube channel for videos, Twitch streams, and also episodes. Last but not least, we’re on Twitter! Follow the official feed with @rbpcast, or follow whichever one of the hosts is your own personal dreamboat: @rbpjosh, @rbpelliot, and @rbpstevo. Just kidding, we would never make you choose.
This week we introduce our lovely selves, and our history with games. This is a gaming podcast, after all. What else would you expect? Much of Josh’s and Elliot’s history is Stevo’s today and he makes the case for that as he plays through the SNES classic, Super Metroid. Can you believe Stevo has never played it? Expect to hear that question a lot in this series. Josh has some words to say about The Order, and, apparently finding himself with not enough to play, also made it through the old PS2 game, Ape Escape 2. So look out for his hot takes on those numbers. Take a shot every time he sighs dejectedly. We round out the gaming discussion with some back-and-forth on 2013’s Tomb Raider, the only game all three of us have played and can actually talk about semi-intelligently.
Also Josh likes pain and beer, Elliot struggles with the definition of ‘lore,’ and Stevo is subconsciously conflicted about the pronunciation of NES.
Topics Discussed:
- Super Metroid
- The Order: 1886
- Tomb Raider
- Ape Escape 2
And a surprise visit from Square’s Unlimited SaGa for some reason.
