Rather Be Playing 16: Proud Mode

Rather Be Playing Episode 16 Proud Mode - The Game Awards, Lara Croft GO, Divinity: Original Sin, The Last Guardian, Kingdom Hearts, Star Ocean: The Last Hope, 20XX, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Destiny 2

In our penultimate episode of the year, I must say we’ve somehow come up with our best episode yet. It’s a little on the long side, but we cover a wide breadth of gaming goodness. For one, the 4th Annual Game Awards just took place this past weekend and we have many thoughts on it. We go over the games, the nominees, and, of course, the winners of every single category (well actually, just the most interesting categories). Some winners are deserved, some are, in our humble opinions, not. Not only that, but we are drowning in game announcements! The Game Awards are proving to be a sort of winter E3 event with all the new stuff we heard. We are excited and we explain why you should be too! There’s also a surprise guest appearance by Cocaine!™

Aside from celebrating good games, we’ve all been busy playing many of them as well. Have we said it yet that 2017 has been as insanely good year for games? We can barely keep up (read: we can’t keep up at all. Well, maybe Josh can, but even he’s struggling). Elliot played Lara Croft GO and Divinity: Original Sin… on VITA! Remote play is a magic that shan’t be understated. And, yes we’re still on Elliot, he’s also playing The Last Guardian and absolutely loving it. Josh got Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 and is going headlong into the Kingdom Hearts 1 remaster. He’s also playing the fresh new Star Ocean: The Last Hope remaster as well as the Mega Man/rogue-like game, 20XX, and he’s loving them both. As for Stevo, he’s all done with Nier Automata and moved straight on to Horizon: Zero Dawn. So many games!

And that’ll do it for us this episode! Next week, get ready for our own epic awards ceremony as we announce the Rather Be Playing GAME OF THE YEAR!
